About Adrienne
Ethnicity: Mixed Asian
Talent: Scarf Twirling
Cause: Surfrider Foundation - Oahu Chapter
Adrienne Wilson is an experienced mermaid, certified freediver and SCUBA diver with a 3:30 static breath hold. As Miss Mermaid USA, she plans to expand on her current projects that include school visits, community outreach, and partnering with businesses and organizations for beach cleanups and sustainable stewardship. She wants to use her title to help elevate her environmental message by acting as a megaphone to help raise awareness. She currently works with local sponsors that already have committed themselves to helping the environment and is eager to create more unique content for her audience local and abroad with the Miss Mermaid USA brand.
Adrienne created a call-to-action called SEA of Change: Students for Environmental Action, through which she has spoken to 5000 students worldwide and implored students to become community agents of change. She has designed booths, workshops, and outreach materials for the US Navy's outreach program, NOAA Marine Debris Program, Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots organization, Robert F. Kennedy's Riverkeeper Organization and has been a contributing author to the Smithsonian Institution's Encyclopedia of Life (focusing on marine species). She also created, fundraised, and directed an EcoPrincess festival, which helped 200 kids in New York learn about the environment and is now continuing into it’s 5th year. She was also Hawaii's ambassador to Antarctica for an expedition that performed plastic pollution tests in the frozen soils.
As Miss Mermaid USA, Adrienne has chosen the Surfrider Foundation Oahu Chapter (oahu.surfrider.org) to be the charity that Team USA will be supporting for 2019! She has sat on the executive council of her local Surfrider Chapter, where their goal is to help pass environmental legislation (like banning sunscreens that harm our reefs) and run programs that minimize the effect of pollution in our oceans.
Adrienne also has extensive modeling and pageant experience, including Miss Syracuse America (NY), Miss Hawaii Earth USA, Miss Nu'uanu America, Miss North Shore USA, Miss Waikiki USA, Miss Central Oahu USA, Miss Excelsior USA (NY), TV Co-Host on Livin' Hawaii (2 Seasons), Hawaii Fashion Week and Hawaii Bridal Expo. Adrienne is an engineer, public speaker, actress, journalist, equestrian, and entrepreneur. She also enjoys writing and creating traditional art media!
